IS THE BIKE LEG YOUR WEAKEST LINK?

FIND OUT HOW TO RIDE FASTER

SO YOU'VE GOT THE BEST BIKE, WHEELS & AERO HELMET

AND YOU TRAIN THE HOUSE DOWN EVERY DAY

You get up early and arrive home late. You've been counting calories, getting enough protein, monitoring the fatigue and booked in the massage.

You spent thousands upgrading your bike and kit because you were told it was more aero.

But here's the question most triathletes don't ask:

Is my TT Position optimized for the most aerodynamic advantage and free speed?

AND THEN YOU GET ON YOUR BIKE........ AND RIDE IT LIKE A POSTIE

You bought the aero bike. You bought the wheels. You bought the helmet.

But once you're riding, you're sitting up, moving around, coming out of the aero bars and constantly changing position. Your heads sticking up, your arms are too wide, your chest is exposed and your body is one big wind sail pushing back against you.

So how aerodynamic are you really?

And more importantly, can you actually hold a position that lets you produce power efficiently, stay comfortable and still run well off the bike?

The fastest bike in the world won't make you faster if you're not in a good position in the first place. Because - 'You the rider' are the biggest source of all wind drag!

And here's the kicker. The person riding a $1k bike with a good aero position will beat the person riding a $20k bike with a bad position.

5 MINUTES FASTER - AND IT DIDN'T COST YOU A SINGLE EXTRA WATT OF POWER

At 40 km/h, a typical triathlete might need around 244 watts to maintain that speed with a CdA of 0.24. (Subject to individual variation)

CdA is a measure of how much aerodynamic drag your body and bike create. The lower the CdA, the less air resistance you have to overcome.

So there are two ways to go faster:

OPTION 1 — PRODUCE MORE POWER

Increase your power by 10% — from 244 watts to around 268 watts.

That's another 24 watts you need to find through training.

OPTION 2 — REDUCE YOUR DRAG

Reduce your CdA by 10% — from 0.24 to 0.216.

You can then ride at roughly 41.5 km/h while still producing 244 watts.

Over 90 km, that's approximately 5 minutes faster.

Same rider.
Same bike.
Same power.
Less drag.
More speed.

One of these options can take months of hard work. The other can change overnight.
